Bio
Tom Johnson, with his blueberry wood dollhouse
Tom is a native Cape Codder with roots in West Barnstable. He graduated from Barnstable High School in 1971, Cape Cod Community College in 1975 and attended U-Mass, Amherst. Since then, he has been self-employed, mainly doing renovations, finish carpentry, and building furniture.
Tom has worked on many authentic colonial homes. Restoring and repurposing antique woods is something that he has been doing for years. Old wood tends to be problematic to work with. It requires many different specialized techniques.
Years of remodeling and helpful associates have enabled Tom to construct a varied assortment of pieces from antique woods. Many items come with an interesting provenance. Several of Tom’s pieces can be seen at the West Barnstable Table Company.
Custom orders, stock permitting, are possible. Custom pieces from your own materials are also possible. Tom will be more than happy to confer with you and quote a price with regard to any such project.
